Welcome to the Black Horse
A wonderful pub in picturesque Pluckley
This beautiful beamed country pub steeped in history was built in the 1470's as a moated farmhouse to the prominent Dering Family, with 5 log burning fires throughout the bar and restaurant. Ideally sited for the breathtaking walks around Pluckley and beyond. The pub is also well known for it's many ghosts, one of which being an invisible phantom who makes himself known by moving both glasses and possessions around the pub -which can go missing for days on end. This has been experienced by both Landlord and customers throughout the pubs rich history.
Rambling, cycling, coach tour, and ghost hunting groups welcome, discounts and tailored packages available on bookings.
We're dog friendly with a large garden overloking the village square and miles of rolling landscape beyond.
We have a beer garden and BBQ area which is ideal for private functions. The beer garden also has a children play area. We also boast a large car/coach park which makes us a perfect place for weary travellers to take a break.
Inside the pub is really cosy too, with beamed ceilings and an open log fire during the cold weather keeps everyone warm. We also have large screens to show top live sport as well an area for live music - with live jazz every 2nd and 4th Wednesday.
Excellent food awaits
Responsibly farmed and locally sourced produce is used to make freshly cooked meals every day. You'll find a great range of dishes on our menus to suit all tastes and appetites.
